The Light House is a warm, welcoming home where volunteers can engage with, encourage, and support the women we serve through a wide variety of opportunities, including:

  • Mentoring

  • Classes: cooking, art/crafts, health and wellness, parenting

  • Activities – movie nights, holiday fun, game nights, outings

  • Provide transportation to appointments, meetings

 
 

Beacon Walk-In
Support Center

Our walk-in center is a safe haven for women to relax in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. They come in to shower, do a load of laundry and/or seek assistance as needed. Offering classes and support groups, connecting women with needed services, and assistance in finding employment are just a few of the services we provide.

  • Welcome and serve the women who drop in

  • Teach a creative art/craft class

  • Help sort donations and prepare gift bags and food for outreach

 

STREET OUTREACH

Street outreach is undertaken in a variety of ways to meet women who could benefit from our services.

  • Become part of our trained team that walks the neighborhood offering gift bags of snacks, drinks and personal care items which meet a need and serve as a point of connection. With kindness and compassion, invite women to the Beacon Walk-in support center.

  • Serve at tables that are periodically set up in a nearby park with snacks, drinks, gift bags and special items

  • Bake or purchase cookies or brownies providing a sweet treat for the snack bags (may be dropped off at the center in advance)

  • Collect personal care items and help prepare gift bags

  • Write short notes of encouragement to be placed in each bag we give

 

Prayer Team:

The prayer team is committed to praying for the needs of the women we serve at the Light House, Beacon, Beacon Walk-in and on our street outreach, as well as the staff and for Light of Life Ministries as a whole. We believe that prayer is the most important and foundational element of all we do and that true transformation and restoration is possible through a personal relationship with Jesus. It is our hope that everyone we connect with will experience His love, mercy and grace.

Event Planning and Fundraising Team:

  • Organize events and fundraising opportunities to benefit the women we serve

  • Host a gathering with friends or invite us to your church or women’s event to “shop for a cause”. We have unique, handcrafted items including jewelry, accessories, and natural body products for sale which are made by and benefit survivors

Other opportunities:

- Give time and expertise - advise or donate professional services such as legal, dental, counseling, graphic design, printing/marketing

- Administrative support - office help, mailings

- Represent Light of Life by hosting a table at a community event

- Shop for needed supplies or collect donations

Volunteers who interact directly with our participants complete the Light of Life Essentials training and are screened through a volunteer application and background check
